The core of Cestro is breathability

Breathability plays a crucial role in keeping your feet in optimal condition. Poor breathability can increase moisture buildup, leading to blisters and affecting not only foot health but also overall temperature regulation.

To enhance breathability, many brands incorporate mesh materials into their shoes. Mesh features thousands of tiny pores that allow air to circulate efficiently but also make it easier for water to seep in. To address this, membranes are often applied to shoes, providing waterproof protection but potentially compromising breathability.

The Importance of Breathable Footwear

A study of 142 experts from 18 countries found that 97% of participants ranked breathability as the most important shoe feature.

Cestro, with an excellent breathability of 7ccs on average

Cestro offers more than 10 times the breathability compared to other membrane materials. Shoes made with Cestrol are so breathable that you can feel the air circulation as if an air conditioner is blowing inside.

Engineered Mesh Shoes

Cestro has found the perfect balance between rainproofness and breathability

For daily shoes, you only need just above 1,000mmH2O to keep your feet dry in the most of the situations.

Shoes with a high level of waterproof rating can actually reduce breathability, making them stuffy and uncomfortable.

Rain Type Required Waterproof Rating (mmH₂O) Applicable Clothing
Drizzle 50 Normal Clothing
Normal Rain 100~300 Golf Clothing
Thick Rain 500~1,000 Ski Clothing
Heavy Rain 1,000~3,000 Water Sports Clothing
Rain Storm Over 3,000 Mountain Climbing Clothing

Fitting test of Cestro applied shoes

A study was conducted with 10 runners wearing shoes equipped with common membranes, mesh materials, and shoes with Cestro. The experiment observed changes in humidity and temperature after walking for one hour.

Due to Cestro's maximized breathability, even after for an hour, it exhibited similar humidity and temperature levels as shoes with mesh materials.

Breathability Comparison Test for Shoes with Cestro Applied

10g of water was poured onto the sample, and the shoe dryer was activated. The weight was measured every 2 minutes, and the total weight change rate after 10 minutes was checked. After 30 minutes, the drying condition was checked.

  • Cestro applied products decrease by 0.2g per measurement.
  • General waterproof membrane decrease by 0.1g per measurement.
  • After 30 minutes, Cestro showed a reduction of 4.73g, while the general waterproof membrane showed a reduction of 3.71g.
